assignment

in conversation with my domestic help - Mrs. Kamla Lal Bahadur, 40

Through the assignment given by Abhay Sir I got an opportunity to peep into the life of my domestic help and also i came to a notion that no MID DAY MEALS lure the children to school.

1) Common ailments she suffers from?
ans. after a long time of pondering she says, " bhagwan ki daya se, kafi time se kuch nahi."
Then she says, " generally i have body ache and nothing much."
2) What does she do in case of her illness?
ans. When ever she has a minor problem she goes and takes medicines from her employers, in case of no relief she sometimes go to a nearby dispensary, but prefers a private homeopathy Doctor.
3) Are you married?
Ans. Blushes and says , "yes from the past 23 years."
4) How many children do you have?
Ans. I have 3 children, 2 boys 19 and 10 year old , a girl 16 year old
5) what common ailments do your children suffer from?
Ans. nothing serious just common cold and fever.
6) so where do you take them?
Ans. same as the above.
7) what about their education ?
Ans. My eldest son has attended school till 5th class but then he learnt driving and is now a driver, but atleast he is able make a living. I am just worried about my daughter as i wanted her to study but she failed twice and now works like me, but i want her to learn some work to be dependent on her own.

after a long pause she tells me my youngest son cannot speak .....
and your mami will be taking her to a govt. hospital,
The govt. schools were not giving him admissions, so i have admitted him to a private school where my total expenditure is Rs 2000/-

"No where is the mid meal being given", she said. A lot of my relatives children also go to school not because of any other reason but because we don't want our children to be the next us!

8) Are you educated?
Ans. No that is my dream which i wanted my children to fulfill.
........................................................................................................................................................

such is the state of the society today, but we tend to close our eyes towards this section of the society.

see if you find a doctor who can determine why the child can't speak. i am sure parents of somebody you know might be a doctor or knows one. use their help. also check without telling her, the private school this child goes to as to what special they do for children who can't speak.
